Professor Rodney Lane

Professor Rodney Lane is a Senior Vascular Surgeon at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney Adventist Hospital and Chair of Vascular Research at Macquarie University. He is a member of the Royal Australian Collage of Surgeons, and a Founding Member of the College of Phlebology.

As a curious young vascular surgeon, he embarked on his Master of Biomedical Engineering at the University of NSW. His surgical skills coupled with his new found passion for engineering allowed him to think differently about complex vascular disease. Professor Lane has been involved in numerous vascular research projects over the past 25 plus years, with the majority focussing on novel Bioengineering approaches. His highlights include Doctorate – Venous Valve repairs, Master of Bioengineering – Aortic Endoprosthesis and Master of Surgery – Ultrasonic Transducer Design.

Professor Lane has over 37 publications, more than 100 abstracts and hundreds of citations. He holds many patents, received several multimillion-dollar grants and continues with clinical research.

Professor Lane is interested in the challenges of medico legal work, and is available to provide expert opinions on a range of matters within the field of Vascular Surgery.
