Dr Simon Cowap is a highly experienced General Practitioner and medico-legal expert with over 25 years of clinical practice across the full scope of general medicine. He provides independent, evidence-based medico-legal opinions for civil matters, drawing on extensive expertise in mental health, chronic disease management, and skin cancer medicine.
Dr Cowap is recognised for his clear, balanced, and well-reasoned reporting, supporting legal professionals, insurers, and organisations to better understand clinical issues, standards of care, and patient outcomes. His strong background in communication and medical education underpins his ability to deliver reports that are both clinically rigorous and accessible to non-medical audiences.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Cowap has held numerous influential roles within the medical and regulatory landscape. He has been a Hearing Member of the Medical Council of New South Wales since 2012, contributing to hearings and reviews relating to professional conduct and performance. He is also a Professional Member of the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT), and a panel member for the Australian Government’s Professional Services Review.
