Dr Neil Wimalasundera is an internationally recognised paediatric rehabilitation physician and specialist in paediatric neurodisability, with extensive clinical, leadership and research experience across the United Kingdom and Australia.
Dr Wimalasundera completed his medical degree in London, qualifying in 1996, and undertook specialist training in both the UK and Australia, achieving dual recognition as a general paediatrician and paediatric neurodisability specialist in 2007. From 2009 to 2017, he worked as a Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), London, one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals. During this period, he served as Head of the Wolfson Neurodisability Service from 2012 to 2017, leading complex multidisciplinary care for children with severe neurological disability.
In 2017, Dr Wimalasundera relocated to Australia to join the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, where he is now the Director of the Paediatric Rehabilitation Service. In this role, he oversees specialist rehabilitation services for children and adolescents with complex, life-altering neurological and physical conditions.
