Dr Damon Thomas is an Australian-based Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with over 20 years’ experience across public and private practice. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Auckland and completed specialist training in plastic and reconstructive surgery in New Zealand and Australia.
Dr Thomas has broad clinical expertise across plastic and reconstructive surgery, with subspecialty interests in hand and upper limb surgery, breast surgery, paediatric plastic surgery, burns surgery, and cosmetic and aesthetic procedures, including cosmetic injectables. He has a particular focus on paediatric hand and microvascular surgery.
Since 2007, Dr Thomas has practised as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Melbourne Institute of Plastic Surgery. He also holds public hospital appointments as a Paediatric Hand and Microvascular Surgeon at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, and as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Barwon Health and Austin Health.
Dr Thomas has extensive medico-legal experience, providing independent medical examinations, impairment assessments, and detailed medico-legal reports. He regularly undertakes Joint Medical Examinations (JMEs) and provides expert opinion in matters involving medical negligence, with a reputation for clear, balanced and evidence-based reporting.
