Dr Barry Rawicki

Dr Barry Rawicki is a physician specialising in rehabilitation medicine, having achieved specialist qualifications in the field in 1985. In 1999, he assumed the role of Associate Professor within the Department of Medicine at Monash University. Dr Rawicki currently serves as the Medical Director of Paediatric Rehabilitation for the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service at Monash Health and Monash Children’s Hospital. From 1997 to 2005, he held the position of Head of Rehabilitation for Southern Health, now known as Monash Health.

During his career, Dr. Rawicki served as the Director of the Spinal Rehabilitation Unit at Caulfield General Medical Centre from 1988 to 1995 and as the Director of Neurology Rehabilitation at Caulfield from 1991 to 1995. His contributions extended to the role of Medical Director at St John of God Nepean Rehabilitation, a position he held from 2005 until April 2007. Dr. Rawicki retired as the Head of Rehabilitation for Epworth Rehabilitation Brighton in June 2020.

Dr. Rawicki’s also served as the inaugural president of the Victorian Brain Injury Recovery Association. Within the Australasian Faculty Rehabilitation Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, he has held various positions, including overseeing registrar training and serving as the Chairman of the Board of Continuing Education.

Dr. Rawicki has expertise in chronic neurology, spasticity, spasticity management, chronic pain, and pain management. He has published over thirty-five papers and two book chapters across these and other areas.

Additionally, Dr. Rawicki was appointed as a consultant emeritus at Epworth Hospital in December 2020. His contribution to the field of Rehabilitation Medicine was further acknowledged when he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in June 2021.
