Associate Professor Jeremy Hammond is a highly experienced consultant physician specialising in internal medicine, hypertension and cardiovascular disease, with over 30 years’ specialist medical practice. He is the Director of the Melbourne Hypertension Clinic and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne.

A/Prof Hammond has substantial medico-legal expertise, regularly providing independent medical assessments and expert medicolegal opinions for WorkSafe, TAC/CTP schemes, self-insured employers, insurers and solicitors, acting for both plaintiff and defendant. His reports are thorough, objective and evidence-based, and commonly address:

  • Current and future work capacity
  • Permanent impairment assessments
  • Causation, including complex cardiovascular matters and COVID-19–related claims
  • Life expectancy and prognosis

He has prepared reports for the Coroner’s Court of Victoria and has appeared as an expert witness in both the County Court and Supreme Court of Victoria.

In addition to his clinical and medicolegal work, A/Prof Hammond has an extensive academic and publication record in peer-reviewed medical journals and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Heart. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the American College of Physicians, the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, and the American College of Cardiology.
