Psychiatrist

A/Prof Paul Katz is a Melbourne-based psychiatrist and medico-legal expert with over 25 years’ experience in public mental health, clinical leadership, and governance. He is Divisional Director of the Latrobe Regional Mental Health and Wellbeing Program, Deputy Chief Psychiatrist in the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist, and a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Monash University.

 

He commenced his psychiatric training in South Africa, earning Fellowship of the College of Psychiatrists of South Africa (FCPsychSA), and upon relocating to Melbourne in 1998, was elected Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). He has held senior roles including Director of Clinical Services at Werribee Mercy Mental Health Program and Executive Clinical Director at Eastern Health, leading major initiatives such as Victoria’s first COVID-positive mental health inpatient unit.
