Associate Professor Anthony Cross is a dual-qualified Emergency Physician and Intensivist with specialist clinical practice experience since 2004. He is currently the Director of Intensive Care at Northern Health, where he also chairs the Standard 8 Deteriorating Patient Committee, overseeing governance and quality systems related to the recognition and management of the deteriorating patient.
A/Prof Cross has extensive experience in medicolegal assessment and expert medicolegal opinion, supported by his formal qualifications in health and medical law and his senior roles within regulatory, coronial and tribunal settings. He currently works with the Coroners Court of Victoria as part of the Health and Medical Investigation Team and serves as a member of the Mental Health Tribunal, contributing specialist medical expertise to complex legal and quasi-judicial matters.
He holds an academic appointment with the Department of Critical Care at the University of Melbourne and has previously served on the Victorian Board of the Medical Board of Australia, including multiple subcommittees. His leadership roles have included two terms as President of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM), as well as Board Member and Treasurer of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine.

He is widely recognised internationally, having been awarded Honorary Fellowships by both the Latin American Federation for Emergency Medicine and the Argentinian Society for Emergency Medicine for his contributions to education and professional standards.
